Godfrey is a former English athlete and Army officer who competed for Great Britian in the 1932 & 1936 Summer Olympics

Born in Blackheath London, Godfrey won the British AAA championships in the 440 yds in both 1931 & 1934

At the 1932 Olympics, Godfrey was fourth in his semi-final in the individual 400 mtr event and didnt evem reach the finals but ran the anchor leg to help the British 4x400 relay team win the Silver Medal behind the United States.

At the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Godfrey was again fourth in the semi finals of 400 metre competition and ran the second leg in the 4x400 relay team helping the team to win the Gold medal.
Seemingly when he took over the baton, GB was trailing last but by the time he handed over the batton to the number three he had put GB in front of the rest, his super human run was definately the reason GB won the Gold.

During the celebrations of his 100th Birthday party it was mentioned that he was the last surviving member of both the 1932 & 1936 Olympics. Unfortunately Godfrey passed away on 20th June 2009.

Godfrey also has another claim to fame and that is that his Daughter Charlotte is a famous Actress. Charlotte Rampling
